In November 2018, the Department of Educational Psychology at Maseno University and the Kenya Guidance, Counseling, and Psychological Association (KGCPA) joined forces to present the groundbreaking 1st International Conference on Mental and Psychological Health. Held at The Kisumu Hotel, Maseno University, the conference revolved around the theme, “Integration of Mental Health in Service Delivery towards achievement of the global Sustainable Development Goals.” It marked a significant step in acknowledging the vital role of mental health in the context of achieving global sustainability.

Building on the success of the first, the 2nd International KGCPA Conference took place at Chuka University. Organized by the Kenyan Guidance, Counselling, and Psychological Association and the Department of Education at Chuka University, this event tackled the theme, “Mainstreaming Mental Health Care Services in the Public and Private Sector for Total Universal Health Coverage.” It brought together professionals, scholars, and experts in a commitment to making mental health care universally accessible.

In a world adapting to new norms, the 3rd International KGCPA Conference, organized by Moi University and KGCPA, took on a virtual format. The theme, “Contemporary family issues in a dynamic world,” addressed the evolving challenges faced by families in the modern era. This virtual gathering demonstrated our adaptability in addressing vital mental health topics even in changing circumstances.
